June Is Safety Awareness Month

June is Safety Awareness Month, a time to recognize the importance of preventing injuries and illnesses in the workplace. At Lyndon Steel, Kinston Steel and Winston Steel & Stair, we consider employee safety our highest priority. As of May 2024, we have collectively worked 5,821,652 hours safely without a lost-time accident. In July 2023, Lyndon Steel gave away three brand new cars to employees to commemorate 5 years and 5,000,000 working hours without a lost-time accident. These are remarkable numbers that represent our common goal of safety and excellence on the job.

At Lyndon Steel, safety is a way of life. We are committed to providing a safe and healthy work environment for our employees, customers and partners. The North Carolina Department of Labor recently awarded the Certificate of Safety Achievement, First Year Gold, to Kinston Steel and the Certificate of Safety Achievement, First Year Gold, to Lyndon Steel and Winston Steel. In addition, President Casey Kemper and Environmental, Health and Safety Director Daniel Maiden accepted the Gold Award on behalf of Lyndon Steel for the Sixth Consecutive Year from the NCDOL. This award is for employers who have zero fatalities and an injury and illness rate that is at least 50% below the industry average for three or more consecutive years. Lyndon Steel has met this criteria for six years in a row, demonstrating our consistent commitment to safety excellence.
